Being a huge fan of Erykah Badu’s music and style, I knew that I would love this Tom Ford White Patchouli perfume ad right away. And it is pretty awsome. She looks incredible and those nails must be the most perfect nails ever, no?

Anyway, I am actually on the hunt for a new favorite perfume. Some people search for it their whole lives, I know. Hopefully I’ll find one real soon. Until now, during all the University years, I was a Moschino girl. Because a chapter of my life ended recently, I planed to change something. And I chose the perfume in favor of the hairstyle. I’ll keep the bold bangs-bob hairstyle combo a bit longer, just because of Karl Lagerfeld’s latest couture collection for Chanel and because it pretty much became a signature look of mine.

You might know the Trendinista blog by now, it is famous for the amazing comparisons it makes between outfits and nature (flowers, ocean beauty etc.). I am so honored to be featured and I can’t believe what amazing comparisons the Trendinista herself, Jill Sherman, found with some outfits from my spring 2008 collection. It reminded her of “the endangered Wild Cyclamen, a tubular Mediterranian flower with breezy, spiral petals“. It looks like that was my exact inspiration! Well, I did think of flowers when I sketched the collection, but I really wasn’t that specific.

The Sartorialist captured these photographs of women with inconvenient bangs on the streets of Milan and Paris. I noticed them right away, as my hair is similar to these right now, meaning too long for me to normally function. Seriously, I have no idea how these women see the right side of the street. I can’t stand working with my hair in my eyes, so I need to trim my bangs at least once in two weeks. Right now, because of the busy schedule, I did not have time to do that (yes, most of the times I do it myself, with the scissors that I use to cut fabrics), so my hair is such a mess. I can only admire these two brave ladies who manage to live with, literally, ‘bold’ bangs!

Marilyn Monroe used to say that “diamonds are a girl’s best friend”. Madonna sang about being a “material girl”, come to think of it, diamonds are indeed every girl/woman’s dream. I remember when I was a teeny tiny little girl I used to love sparkly stones that looked like diamonds. I did not know the difference between reality and fantasy. My play dolls always had outfits that I used to create and sew myself (a cliché, I know, but true, nonetheless), completed with sparkly accessories. Well, as I grew older I realized how amazing REAL diamond jewelry pieces are. For instance: the Abazias Diamonds. I came across these breathtaking pieces of jewelry a while ago. They brought memories back, of when I was just a girl playing with my dolls, in their fantasy world. Call it a proof of maturity, call it whatever you want, but I just can’t stop thinking about them. Of course, I’d love to get a diamond jewelry piece: who wouldn’t?

The great thing about the Abazias Diamonds is that they have a blog where you can read a lot of interesting facts about diamonds; you can even build your own ring on their website. I played around a bit and you know what? Being a jeweler is amazing! I wanted to create a ring and tell you: this is “it”, “the one”! However, I seriously can’t decide. There are just so many shapes and forms that can be used to create the ring of your dreams; with over 100,000 diamonds available to select from you will surely find the perfect diamond for any budget and taste. This makes me think of flowers and weddings and all that beauty, which is another kind of fantasy world.

All I need now is a fiancé (who, in my little fantasy world, would wear a perfect, by me chosen diamond watch from Abazias). But who says I can’t get a diamond piece by myself, for my own little, fashionista soul? However, the many options on the Abazias website are killing me: earrings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, fashion rings. Overwhelmed by all this fabulousness is how I feel.

These musings on youth, diamonds and wedding rings may be a sign that I did grow a bit older. Or maybe I just want a present for myself, after all the work, all these years. And who says it’s a sin to dream of diamonds?! They are a girl’s best friend, aren’t they?

When I was a teenager, I used to have long, voluminous, thick black hair. I didn’t really like it (you always want what you don’t have, no?). I was extremely happy when I got a flat iron that actually worked: it flattened my hair, making it look sleek and chic. So I got the bob and the bangs and now I can only dream of the times when I used to hate my hair because it was enormous from blow drying. Short hair is easier to live with, however, I do wish to have Catherine McNeil’s hair in that first photograph on the second row. And her face. Oh well, you can’t have it all, can you?
