Marilyn Monroe used to say that “diamonds are a girl’s best friend”. Madonna sang about being a “material girl”, come to think of it, diamonds are indeed every girl/woman’s dream. I remember when I was a teeny tiny little girl I used to love sparkly stones that looked like diamonds. I did not know the difference between reality and fantasy. My play dolls always had outfits that I used to create and sew myself (a cliché, I know, but true, nonetheless), completed with sparkly accessories. Well, as I grew older I realized how amazing REAL diamond jewelry pieces are. For instance: the Abazias Diamonds. I came across these breathtaking pieces of jewelry a while ago. They brought memories back, of when I was just a girl playing with my dolls, in their fantasy world. Call it a proof of maturity, call it whatever you want, but I just can’t stop thinking about them. Of course, I’d love to get a diamond jewelry piece: who wouldn’t?

The great thing about the Abazias Diamonds is that they have a blog where you can read a lot of interesting facts about diamonds; you can even build your own ring on their website. I played around a bit and you know what? Being a jeweler is amazing! I wanted to create a ring and tell you: this is “it”, “the one”! However, I seriously can’t decide. There are just so many shapes and forms that can be used to create the ring of your dreams; with over 100,000 diamonds available to select from you will surely find the perfect diamond for any budget and taste. This makes me think of flowers and weddings and all that beauty, which is another kind of fantasy world.

All I need now is a fiancé (who, in my little fantasy world, would wear a perfect, by me chosen diamond watch from Abazias). But who says I can’t get a diamond piece by myself, for my own little, fashionista soul? However, the many options on the Abazias website are killing me: earrings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, fashion rings. Overwhelmed by all this fabulousness is how I feel.

These musings on youth, diamonds and wedding rings may be a sign that I did grow a bit older. Or maybe I just want a present for myself, after all the work, all these years. And who says it’s a sin to dream of diamonds?! They are a girl’s best friend, aren’t they?

When I was a teenager, I used to have long, voluminous, thick black hair. I didn’t really like it (you always want what you don’t have, no?). I was extremely happy when I got a flat iron that actually worked: it flattened my hair, making it look sleek and chic. So I got the bob and the bangs and now I can only dream of the times when I used to hate my hair because it was enormous from blow drying. Short hair is easier to live with, however, I do wish to have Catherine McNeil’s hair in that first photograph on the second row. And her face. Oh well, you can’t have it all, can you?

If Madame Miuccia Prada says jump…who are we not to follow her? By we I mean the editors and fashion fans worldwide, we who digest or reject ideas and trends twice a year (resort and pre-fall not included). The fairies trend has caught on, it being very editorial friendly. The one dreamy, sheer dress (in best cases a Prada ss08 one), a model with romantic long locks and eyes, place into the woods and there you have it: the fashion fairy. Story told nice and easy, not exactly imaginative, is it? Evidently, the message counts and I’m all for a romantic, eerie look for next summer.

More amazing is the Prada short film “Trembled Blossoms” which I’m sure you have seen by now (if not, click here to watch it). Do read to full post to learn more about fairies and look at modern-day ones: the “lost girl in the woods” type of fairy.

There is one thing I can’t quite understand: what the appeal of orange skin color is. I do go at the tanning salon from time to time and I am lucky to have a natural brown pigment (I guess it’s the Latin roots) , so I don’t need a lot of sessions to look like I just came back from the Bahamas. By that I mean having a natural looking, healthy tan. However, when I saw this picture of Lindsay Lohan (I usually stay away from posting about celebrities; I’ll let Perez do that) I felt a bit sick. Besides the fact that her skin hurts to look at, her make-up is so bad! I am sure she has a lot of professionals hired to do the job, at least they shouldn’t let her walk out like that.

Thank God for Anja and her Vogue Beauty “Nude Colors” editorial, it makes it all go away. If the skin is flawless the rest just works with it. I never understood the appeal of blush anyways.
