Today we had a fitting session for Emilia’s fall/winter collection that I’ll photograph tomorrow, on Roro, my model and friend that I so love to photograph [she’s the reason I started taking fashion photographs!]. Emilia is a designer from Timisoara, she works with a sewing atelier and has her own store in Kappa Shopping Center here in Timisoara. But having a store is not enough for good business, ads-advertisement and photographs are needed for promoting your work. So, she asked me if I could help her with taking the photographs and I kindly said yes. I mean, how could I not have said yes? We get to use a studio, background decoration from the theater and her clothes are great too! I get a whole lot more of experience, so it’s a win-win situation. I am really excited for tomorrow. Of course I’ll post the photographs on So Fash’on as soon as they are ready for publishing, so be sure to check back in a few days.

I took these photographs of Roro today, at the fittings. I posted only these three because I am not really allowed to showcase the clothes before the actual final ad-photographs. Also, today I chose to go “back to black”, wearing all black, only pink lipstick. I am finally discovering and craving for the sophisticated “all black” look. I blame it on the cold weather. Or maybe it’s because I’m starting to grow older?

Anyway, a creative mind needs rest before an important photo-shoot [God, it’s almost 2am; who said blogging was easy?], so I hope you all have the most relaxed and peaceful Sunday!

Finally, I finished editing the photographs I took of my designs. I didn’t want to just photograph the clothes in a simple, boring full frontal way, so I won’t call it a look-book. It’s just a showcase of the first and latest clothes I designed and sewed myself, during these last months. I did start thinking of clothes for next summer and sketching some ideas. I want to work more with patterns, try to make tailored pants and jackets. It will certainly be better than this “mini-collection”.

Anyway, everything at it’s time, right?

I finally shot my “look-book”, for the clothes I sewed this summer. I am not pretentious to call it a “collection”, as I know that’s more than what I’ve done. But still, I wanted to photograph my clothes (mostly wearable dresses) on my model friend, Roxana, to post them on my gallery (soon enough); until then, I thought of giving you a sneak peak of the hair&make-up and some of the dresses. We had a great time, she was very tired, but pulled it off professionally.

More photos from my “Diana Bobar fw07 look book” [sounds pretty cool, huh?], soon. I didn’t want to make a name up just for the sake of it, so I’m sticking with my own name for my designs.

Notice any similarities? The pictures on the first row come from the John Galliano ss08 runway show [pic credit tfs], that took place yesterday, while the second pictures were shot by me, on 2007-09-23, as part of the “Runaway Train” photo shoot.

I don’t have high-end designer outfits to use in the photo shoot I shoot, so I usually have to be creative and try to do something with what I’ve got. I never explained why I used that elephant toy on Roxana’s head (as a head piece) in that photo shoot. Well, the idea of the whole shoot was to showcase different female personalities you might get to see on a train ride: a glamorous woman, a rebel girl, a tomboy, a modern girl and the last (as pictured up), the young girl dressed in her grandmother’s clothes, who still can’t let go of her childhood, represented by the elephant toy. Of course I would have loved to use a Philip Treacy head-piece creation for the styling of this shoot, but that only happens in my wildest dreams, in the same ones where it also happens that I am an internationally successful stylist, photographer and fashion designer. Lol, right?

Whoever did the styling for the John Galliano show: I wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart for proving to my father [who drove me to the trains museum location] and to my boyfriend [who made me question my creativity because of that styling decision] that I am not completely loca, nor am I insane, when I decided to put a toy on my model’s head. And if fashion still didn’t prove that to him, well then, at least I am not the only “crazy” person in this world! Mr. Galliano, if it was your genius mind who thought of this, then I may have to consider going to the shrink, [I wrote/meant that in the most flattering way ever].
