Squares of fabric from which I made this dress, from my spring/summer 2008 rtw collection.
Unfortunately, I don’t have huge funds for my fashion endeavors. I don’t afford to buy as much fabric as I’d like to. So, whenever I get some for free, I appreciate it, even if it’s tiny squares of fabric. I told you before about my aunt working in a factory here in Romania, where they produce for the likes of Armani, Dolce&Gabbana, and many more famous Italian fashion brands. So, whenever there is remaining fabric from production, the employers are allowed to take it home for free. She always thinks of me, she knows that I can use it, no matter how tiny those fabric squares may be. For example, this dress that I made for my spring summer collection is entirely made out of those tiny squares. Sure, it’s more hard work to sew all those squares together, to get a larger surface of fabric, but it’s worth it. Firstly, it makes my aunt be very proud of me; secondly, I love to be creative with whatever I have got. And when you don’t have much to work with, you find ways to use what you’ve got. Or, you find yourself a “sugar-daddy”. The latter being not my case.
This dress goes for 35 Euro +13 shipping tax ($50 + $20 shipping tax for outside Romania). To get it contact me at diana[at]sofashon.com, dianabobar[at]yahoo.com or just leave a comment on the blog.
Have fun being creative this weekend!

Sincer, te admir pentru ceea ce faci si chiar daca nu ai fonduri suficiente iti ies niste haine foarte frumoase
very creative dress, simple looking but I’m not sure not simple to make.
can not wait to see your s/s collection any sort of theme prepared? this one sort of looks like nautical with an edgy twist:)
Great design, but you should really ask more! Also for the other designs! At least that’s what I think.
Oh, thanks:) Well, I want to make affordable clothing for normal sized woman. I’m still in the process of learning a lot by sewing and designing myself, so I don’t want to be greedy. The experience I get is so much more worth it! :)
OK, of course I do understand, I just think the designs are quite cheap, for them being handmade and designed by you. Great work!
