Diana Bobar

Welcome to my website ... and enjoy my journey inside the twisted world of Romanian fashion: from fabric choosing to pattern cutting, to the actual sewing - right now, I try to do my best in bulding my own clothing label: DIANA BOBAR DESIGN and having fun blogging the process.

Fashion and Art

First comes fashion:

Bianca and Smara. I really love the way they dress. Bianca has the vintage dresses thing going on [she shops at my favorite vintage store too. Now I know who buys the pretty dresses before me] and Smara is all about casual chicness.

I randomly found these Amanda Lepore lips around. I thought of painting them hot fuchsia pink.

Today I was very proud of my dress. It originally looked like this. The weird length (not long enough, I know, I’m to tall) made me be creative and using a hair clip I improved by creating those pleats. It does look better, don’t it?

I HEART draping and pleats.

Then comes art:

Until the exams start, we have one more week to study drawing: the human body.

There is this “Still Life” contest and Smara painted this one for it. Shame on me because I am to lazy of a person to go get me the right canvas and start painting something too. Well, good luck to her.

How colorful and cute are these two abstract expressionist (almost fauvist) paintings me (down) and Smara (up) did in the first year of University? They look-a-like because we had a theme and lots of theory that we had to respect and follow.

Today, a room mate of mine said she was sorry she didn’t go to art school, because it’s so much easier. Well, I resent that! First of all you need talent for that. Second of all, you have to love what you do and really do everything with passion, else you won’t get anywhere. Drawing in charcoal/pencil/whatever is just like mathematics: the often you exercise the better you know how to do it. So if you think Art University is “easy”, stop. It really shows disrespect and stupidity. You can look at a Miro painting and think “Oh, I could do this too”, proving what you not know about art.

Art is more than meets the eye…
