“Gustav Klimt was an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Art NouveauVienna Secession) movement. Klimt’s primary subject was the female body and his works are marked by a frank eroticism. His ‘Golden Phase’ was marked by positive critical reaction and success. Many of his paintings from this period utilized gold leaf.”
The Kiss.
The Tree of Life.
He is one of my favorite painters, I read some of his biographies and also saw a movie about his “artistic madness”: Klimt (2006) starring John Malkovic.
These are some prints a friend of mine did for school. Too bad she didn’t use original gold leaf and more detailing in these try outs.
I would love to see a whole collection based on Klimt’s work as inspiration.
