Welcome to my website ... and enjoy my journey inside the twisted world of Romanian fashion: from fabric choosing to pattern cutting, to the actual sewing - right now, I try to do my best in bulding my own clothing label: DIANA BOBAR DESIGN and having fun blogging the process.

“Mode Grafik” Part I

“Das Geschenk Der Malerei: von Giotto bis Goya”, “Great Modern Masters” and “Mode Grafik” are three inspirational books I got recently as a present from a friend of my mom’s, Ines, visiting from Germany. The art books really come in handy for all the painting I have to do next week. And about the fashion illustrations book, you can never have enough of them. Even the infamous jodhpurs are illustrated in there (1st row, 2nd pic) [click here to see my own, home-made ones]. Oh, and there are some men’s fashion illustrations too (last column).

The “Mode Grafik” book starts off with the basic lessons in drawing the human body. As long as you know the proportions, you are all set to dress your model as you wish. While I do like those exact illustrations, I’m more found of these artsy ones, where simple, effortless (you wish!) lines and color blocks perfectly describe a mood/style/idea. Aren’t the illustrations on the right perfect? I think so.

There’s more to come from the “Mode Grafik” book, so stay tuned. Maybe you’ll get inspired and actually draw something. If you do, I’d love to see it, so send it over!

  1. Oh I love fashion illustration! You just reminded me of a brilliant book called Antonio’s People - Antonio Lopez was one of the greatest 80s illustrators, I recommend that book…

PS - thanks for your comment!
