Diana Bobar

Welcome to my website ... and enjoy my journey inside the twisted world of Romanian fashion: from fabric choosing to pattern cutting, to the actual sewing - right now, I try to do my best in bulding my own clothing label: DIANA BOBAR DESIGN and having fun blogging the process.

My Dresses In Bolero

Bolero fashion magazine, August 2008 issue.

The Diana Bobar spring ‘08 dress that was featured in the ‘Greek Goddess’ spread, worn as a top. Versatile and accesorized perfectly!

I actually can’t believe it either: two of my dresses were featured in an actual fashion magazine, called Bolero, which all my girlfriends get and read, so imagine their excitement. Multiply that by a gazillion and think that that’s how I feel. It’s a sense of adrenaline mixed with a relaxed feeling of accomplishment. And it’s only the beginning, right? Also amazing is that one of the dresses was featured on the editor’s choice page, next to a cute cute pair of Coca Zaboloteanu sandals.

It’s worthy of appreciating the fact that the stylists and editors of the magazine try to really promote and help young designers (such as myself, and Coca), they’re not only playing by the rules of the ‘mafia’ in fashion (remember that scandal about Italian Vogue?).

Cheers to believing in dreams and watching as they slowly but surely come true!

I am mostly flatered to be featured next to designs from already established Romanian designers such as Maria Lucia Hohan, whom I deeply admire, Claudia Castrase, Andreea Raicu for Irina Schrotter. I can’t wait to meet them sometime (hopefully soon) and let them know face-to-face how flattered I feel to actually have a garment (that I myself made) featured next to their lovely designs.

Greek Goddess‘ fashion spread published in the August issue of Bolero magazine. Photographer: Ciprian Strugariu; stylist: Ailin Ibraim, stylist assistant: Andreea Jivcovici; make-up: Alina Nacu; hair: Bogdan Mirica; model: Iulia Savulescu/One Models.

The last picture is a closeup photograph in which the model wears of one of my dresses from the spring 2008 collection, as a top, with the most amazing belt ever, from Claudia Castrase. This just proves that the work of a stylist is extremely important, mostly because it’s a different/better point of view on the garment that one designer makes. Absolutely love how it looks and the fact that one of my mom’s friends told me she would totally wear the top like this, makes me give even more kudos to the stylists.

A big big Thank You to all the people involved, and if you want to get that dress/top, you can find it in the Ummagumma store in Bucharest.
