Diana Bobar

Welcome to my website ... and enjoy my journey inside the twisted world of Romanian fashion: from fabric choosing to pattern cutting, to the actual sewing - right now, I try to do my best in bulding my own clothing label: DIANA BOBAR DESIGN and having fun blogging the process.

DB ss2011 Sunflower Collection

The runway presentation for the collection will take place this Sunday, 15th August (just like las year – same place, same time) at Valiug (you can see more pics of the resort and surroundings on Gasthof Tirol’s website). Flavia and Vlad (two bright young architects) will create an installation for the runway, can not wait to see how it will eventually look. I am sooo excited!

The mood/ad photographs are actually made on top of Andi’s studio, so that’s quite amazing, right?

I wanted the collection to be very light, summery, easy and breezy. The main inspiration is Van Gogh’s sunflower and his night paintings, so I got the color palette from there: warm yellow, beige, cream balanced with darker notes of blue, navy and black.

Photo - Andi Popescu; model – Madalina Ignat, hair – Jenci, make-up - Anca Buzea, accessories – Josephine.

Take a look at the whole collection below, also click to read the full post for all the looks, sketches and fabric swatches.

Lovelies 09.08.2010

Pleated beige silk dress with navy spray paint made for Georgiana.

Andreea at the fitting for her vintage rose ruffle dress with a pleated V bust and a gray waistband. Andreea also sent over pics from her prom (I believe) where she wore a beige silk baby-doll dress with purple rosettes at the bust. I also made that tiny silk clutch for her. Love her!

Andreea in a golden silk evening dress with hand-sewn purple embroidery. Love her heels. :)

I made this navy lace black feathered dress for Lavinia to wear at a salsa contest. I can not wait to get pictures from her wearing it. I had to fit the dress on Nico, who kindly came over to try it on, because they have very similar measurements; Lavi is from Constanta so I could not fit the dress on her but I am glad there were no problems. I am always so relieved when a dress fits for a client who lives in a different city.

Judith (Carmen and Flavia’s mom) wore the two silk dresses above at Flavia’s wedding – you might remember that I made her engagement dress a couple of weeks ago.

Light pink tutu skirt.

I custom made this pleated beige silk dress with a deeply cut out back for Patricia. The chain is detachable of course. She also sent over pics from her friends wedding, where she perfectly wore the dress:

Larisa’s cyclamen pink silk pleated V bust bridesmaid dress with a detachable train. I love how chic it looks without the train.

Gabi at the fitting for her fab silk printed gown. She wore it amazingly well. See for yourself below:

Her mom and her sister, Dodo, also wear dresses that I made for them a while ago. It was so great to see them all dressed in DB dresses at the wedding they attended. <3

This nothing can beat your exit when the dress that you wear has a fabulous train, right?

Dana’s Wedding Dress

I made Dana’s ivory silk wedding dress with a lot of attached buttons last summer, but I only now found a few pics on her blog (which is actually about her button-themed wedding) so I thought it would be great to post them, even if they are guest photos. Would love to get the wedding photos made by the hired photographer, so Dana if you still read my blog please send them over. :)

DB & Josephine Cocktail Party

If you happen to be in Timisoara this Friday, 8PM, then you are cordially invited to have fun, socialize and take a look at our new spring/summer collections at our summer cocktail party; it will be taking place at out atelier.

The pretty photograph used for the poster ( ; )  is an ad for the new ss-rtw 2011 collection, shot by Andi Popescu, model – Madalina Ignat, hair – Jenci, make-up - Anca Buzea (who came all the way from Bucharest for our photo-shoot) , accessories – Josephine.

On 15th August we will also have a presentation at Valiug (just like last year), so this is sort of a beginning for the fun. :)

PS: GIFTBAGS!!! We have support from the Prospero sweet-shop with pastry&muffins and from Reverto with tiny gift soaps (thanks to Marina). Soooo excited!!!!

DB ss2011 Fitting Preview

Paula came over yesterday for a quick dress fitting for the photo-shoot tomorrow. She will not pose for the look-book photographs, but I like to fit dresses on her because she wears a 38 size, most of the dresses that I send to stores are being made in a 38/40 (medium) size. I’d love to have a wide range of sizes for each dress, but right now I don’t have the manpower to produce so much.

Below is a short video of this navy silk dress with golden chain details in motion:

Can’t wait for the photo-shoot tomorrow. It’s been about a year since we had the last one. I can NOT believe how fast time goes by.

Andi will take the photos, Anca will do the make-up, Josephine made the accessories.

This week I will get back to you with more details about the collection, the mood-board, the sketches and of course, the photographs. Soooo excited! :D :D
