Diana Bobar

Welcome to my website ... and enjoy my journey inside the twisted world of Romanian fashion: from fabric choosing to pattern cutting, to the actual sewing - right now, I try to do my best in bulding my own clothing label: DIANA BOBAR DESIGN and having fun blogging the process.

Back to organizing my address book now and afterwards I will treat myself with watching the documentary Valentino-The Last Emperor.

Few Blue Sketches

Staying in bed must have it’s perks, right? Besides the fact that I am done getting sleep for the next couple of years, I also sketch a lot and I’m thinking of starting to paint again. I also updated my CV and organized all my press appearances, however the address book is still waiting. I also promise to blog a lot more this month, as I missed it a lot this last summer. It is, of course, way easier than sewing a dress.

And about dresses, I will have a sample sale this week, I’ll post pictures later today of samples that I have at my atelier, with prices being cut down to 50-60% of their initial price. So say tuned!

I Do Not Blame The Shoes

Most people know by now that I had a tiny accident a week ago and that now I have to stay in bed for a month with my foot looking like this:

It was night and I wasn’t careful because I was arguing with someone on the phone while looking for the street name and it all happened very fast: I was not careful enough and I fell from a high sidewalk. I called a friend to come and get me and take me to the emergency room; before I got there I also fainted because of the thought that I could not work with a fractured foot. And that is what actually happened, so now I can’t walk for a whole month. I have to stay in bed and rest. Maybe a big part of the accident was the fact that I wore the 15cm tall, lovely, black wedges pictured below (these were some snaps I found in my computer).

But I don’t blame the shoes. I am always for ‘the higher the better’, even if I am 1,80cm tall. It’s only mine and the sidewalk’s fault. Florina did tell me to sue the townhall but I’ll stick to getting better and resting, so I can end the year with lots of work, just like I started it.

I know I complained all year about the fact that I did not vacation in a very long time, that I’m tired bla bla bla and maybe this is just life’s way of giving me what I ask for, but I was thinking more about a sun-sand-summer-at-the-beach kind of relaxing, not this! Anyways.

We are still working, as my sister took over and Florina is also helping a lot with running the business, so yes, we still do take orders and make pretty warmer dresses and fall/winter jackets and coats for lovely clients. Contact me at diana[at]sofashon.com

One small injury does not hold me back! I will be back however, with pictures of me turning the white plaster golden with, hopefully, a baroque print for it to look more glam. :)

Also, thanks to Iulia Rosu for writing this lovely article for the Adevarul newspaper. It is a pretty big deal to be featured in this publication and I am very grateful (read article here).

Girl Around Town

This was a photo shoot organized in Timisoara, for the TVT89 TV show called ‘Viata In Roz’ presented by Marilena Surdu. Can’t wait to get the video footage to share it. Photo shoots are always fun! Unfortunately I could not make it because of deadlines that day, but I am liking the results.

Silk wine colored pleated dress that I made for a Cosmopolitan shooting.

This is a navy purple gown that I also made for Esther. I can’t wait to get the video from her concert and to share her talent with you. Now it’s back to work!

The New Workspace

My sister, Florina, is coming over whenever she finishes her courses to help out. She really is such a fast learner and a funny person. Hopefully in a couple of years she will manage the financial and business part of the company so I can concentrate more on creation and production.

One of the rooms – where we meet the clients – is purple. So cool! Was thrilled by the color when we first saw the place. Could not help myself with the animal-printed couch-sheet. Is is also a must have this season, right?

Florina’s jewelery and one of our lovely flowers.

Most of my stuff is on these shelves. It was crazy to move everything. But with a lot of help from friends and family it only took us two days.

I am loving the new place and its location; it is very central in Timisoara, right across the Continental Hotel. I make about 5-10 minutes to get here from home and having to see the Unirii square every morning is lovely, more than I have ever wished for!
