Diana Bobar

Welcome to my website ... and enjoy my journey inside the twisted world of Romanian fashion: from fabric choosing to pattern cutting, to the actual sewing - right now, I try to do my best in bulding my own clothing label: DIANA BOBAR DESIGN and having fun blogging the process.

Fashion Event @ Ramayana

A new week, a new exciting event at Ramayana Cafe: a bazaar featuring both oriental objects (such as handmade jewelery, clothing) and objects which have an oriental influence. The event starts at 1 p.m. today (06 December 2008) with live music, which you can listen to while getting an oriental massage, drinking a hot cup of roses tea, of course, you can leave after maybe getting a special piece of jewelery or a unique dress made by myself, as I will have some dresses for sale there.

In the evening there will also be a fashion show with some of my past designs, not a full collection, but selected pieces fit to the event’s theme. Unfortunately I can’t be there in person, as I really have a lot of work to finish this weekend/month/year, but as soon as I get the video, I promise to post it. I’m sure it will be at least as fun as the fashion show I had at the opening.

Today Arina Varga from ‘The F Word’ visited me and it was so nice to finally meet her in person. We went to the same University, and while I studied painting she actually studied fashion design. She is the most fun person to be around and we talked a lot of fashion, inside gossip, technical difficulties, garment construction and so on. It’s actually refreshing when you find people who share same thoughts with you, people who go through similar situations, who can understand how hard it is to create and organize all the work that comes with the term ‘fashion designer’. She brought this Christmas plant as a present and it is actually the first plant I recieved as a gift from someone. It was funny when we realized she got exactly the same fabric that I had used for a dress from my spring collection. Great minds think alike, right?

Hoping for her to joing me to our first Romanian Fashion Bloggers meeting next weekend, @ Ramayana of course!

Coca Zaboloteanu Booties For Sale

Usually, Coca Zaboloteanu works mostly client orders, however right now she has these two pairs of booties and the one pair of boots for sale, in a size 37. It means that if you wear that size and you want either one of these pairs of booties/boots, you can get them right away. The two pairs of booties are priced around 300 Lei, the pair of boots is 360 Lei. They all are real leather, both outside and inside, made by leather goods specialists who work at Coca’s atelier. How I wish she started making handbags too!

So, if you are interested in getting them or even ordering them in a different size, do contact me at diana[@]sofashon.com, the production for a new pair however takes two weekes time, as each and every one of them is manually cut and sewed.

New At Ummagumma 06Dec08

These last dresses are at Ummagumma right now (priced around 400 Lei). They are in a size 38 and 40, have similar golden painted details at the waist (as you can see, one is without) and differently attached golden chains. I wanted them to be especially elegant, to be worn at an office Christmas party for example. Or a fancy family dinner. Or a New Year’s Eve party at an exclusive restaurant. And the list can go on…

You can also order them directly from me in any size, by email at diana[@]sofashon.com.

Random Phone Pics

I recently managed to get all the photos from my phone, so expect a lot of images with clients from fittings which I did not post until now. Also, if you ever wondered how I looked while eating peanut butter, there you have it! It was delicious and it made me think of the first time when I visited the U.S. with a painting scholarship and first tasted peanut butter. Fun times.

Also, I took this picture with Roro in a bathroom before a fashion show this summer. She was doing her make-up, that is why you see her hands on her face. And I got bored, so I took the picture. Memories.

The InteresArt Store

A DBD dress (from the spring/summer 2009 collection) on the dress form in the InteresArt store in Bucharest, Romania.

I finally visited the InteresArt store while being in Bucharest last weekend and was very pleased to see the lovely place there. It’s very cozy, comfortable, Valentina, the store owner, will make you a nice cup of tea while you browse and discover all the cute, handmade jewelery. I already sold a couple of my dresses, but you still can find more of my designs there. This is the address, in case you decide to pay them a visit: Str. George Georgescu no. 45, Bucharest, Romania (the location is very close to Unirii).

Fun Pulp Fiction Party@Ramayana

The Pulp Fiction Party was last Friday at Ramayana Cafe in Bucharest and we had a lot of fun! You can see that me and Roxana were totally in character, playing the bad ass chicks we actually are (*wink). Big ‘thank you’ to Catalin Olteanu for the photographs [more photos here], and don’t miss the next event at Ramayana. Will keep you posted on all the fun events they organize. Hopefully I’ll be able to be there as often as possible.

Also, can’t wait to have the first Romanian Fashion Bloggers meeting there. If you are one (a Romanian fashion blogger I mean) be part of our community, so we can make fun things happen. Right now we are deciding on the logo and the banner, here. So, let us know what you think!

After a very fun weekend, guess what’s coming? A super busy week with a whole lot of work to do.

PS: Today was the Romanian National Day: ‘happy birthday’ to our lovely country!
