InteresART Store, Str. George Georgescu nro.45 (more info here).

A new store opens in Bucharest, called InteresART, it features mostly hand-made, unique, limited edition pieces of clothing, accessories, home decorations and greeting cards. The opening of the store is on 13 November, and the location is Str. George Georgescu no. 45, Bucharest, Romania.

You will find 10 DBD dresses there, most of them being from the spring/summer 2009 collection and a couple of new designs, like the ones photographed in the collage up, before I painted them and added golden chains to the neckline. Sound interesting, right? So, just go and check it out for yourself. I am sure the charm of the store will make you a go back in no time!

Does this mean I should celebrate because a second store is carrying my work in Bucharest? :) Champagne for everyone, and now back to work for me!

A while ago I found a 50 year old lady to help me with the sewing part of some of the garments that I made; because of all the orders that I got plus working on new samples/collections, I could not work alone anymore. I needed to get help with the production. At first, we got along very well and she seemed to do a great job. However, at one point she sewed the dresses way to fast, the finishing details were off/missing, I had to double check everything and actually re-sew parts of the garments myself, all over again. Of course that was stupid, because I payed her and she didn’t do her job well, which meant we had a problem. The worst part? It was my name on the products, my responsibility, my reputation.

Because I couldn’t afford to loose her as help, we had to have a serious talk about taking things up a couple of notches, quality-wise. Which, of course, meant doubling the payment that I gave her. Right now, everything seems to be fine again, however there are a couple of things I learned these last months: whatever you want to be done right, do it yourself and the root of most problems is money.

It really sucks being a grown-up…

I am so very happy to finally post these pictures of the latest Josephine Jewelery collection, ‘Les fleurs De Josephine’. Florina, the creative force and lovely fashionista behind the brand is a very good friend of mine and we actually went fabric shopping together for these lovely brooches she made. I like their unity, uniqueness and perfect contrast between the precious stones and textured fabric. They actually could easily inspire me to create precious evening dresses with a lot of precious crystals. Would be really fun to see a piece of accessory transformed into a dress, no?
