Diana Bobar

Welcome to my website ... and enjoy my journey inside the twisted world of Romanian fashion: from fabric choosing to pattern cutting, to the actual sewing - right now, I try to do my best in bulding my own clothing label: DIANA BOBAR DESIGN and having fun blogging the process.

Wedding Dresses

This year has been a very busy year for me. This summer was amazing because, besides all the evening dresses I created, I also got to make a few wedding dresses.

Bridal fashion is a territory where I took only a few steps, so I am always amazed when I see designers who do just that: amazingly pretty gowns for that special day of a woman’s life. I always look up to bridal designers because I know how much work goes into the production of such an amazing dress, the craftsmanship is incredible and the end result is always stunning. Priscilla of Boston is just an example of stunningly elegant gowns for pretty ladies to wear on their special day.

I also love to see the sketches on their website and next to the sketch the finished, impeccable gown. It is great to see that ideas and sketches can be turned into reality and because I know what it takes to actually create such a dress, I can only admire them and maybe even start thinking about my special day, someday.

Every woman deserves to look like a princess at least once in her lifetime, right? And thanks to very talented designers one can choose from a variety of styles, classically elegant or more feminine. Seeing all these pretty white gowns from Priscilla of Boston was actually a breath of fresh air in an ocean of overly embellished and way too shiny dresses. And I always appreciate simple elegance when I see it.

When will you get married?

Anime Photo Shoot

Because it’s all about good bad love hate in this world, no?

Photographer: Andi Popescu; Models: Flavia & Miru; Assistants & Making Of: Bebe & Soso; Make-Up & Hair: Sergiu Bechian; Clothing: Diana Bobar; Accessories: Josephine.

Edit: only 4 of the first shots above are ‘approved’ by the photographer, but I posted more of them because I liked them and because I thought the story would be more complete this way. The second last picture is actually just a try-out to shut me up, because that’s how much I insisted them move, so I had to post it. I actually love it a lot. It is dynamic yet very still. Andi said I take hem down, but I will not do that, because I don’t want it to be just another fashion spread with pretty girls looking pretty, with no story in the background. So if you want the ‘perfectly edited’ version of the shoot go to Andi’s blog here.

Oh, and Happy Birthday Andi!

Short Trip To Bucharest

Florina Erimescu and me, both wearing stuff I made of course.

I traveled a lot to Bucharest this year, it takes about 8 hours to get there from Timisoara by train and it’s extremely exhausting and tiring. Besides the fact that you can not really sleep well at night, the city itself is a too busy. I love it here a lot more and right now I would not move there for anything in the world.

Anyway, there are the occasional events that I say ‘yes’ to attend, so I have to be there. When I do get to Bucharest I usually have a lot of meetings and fittings besides the main event that I have to go to.

The day we arrived we also met up with Adina Necula and Cristina Colotelo, who tried on her cherry colored wrap jacket. <3 Lovely girls. Later on Ludmila Corlateanu joined us for a cup ot hot tea and a lot of fash talk. :)

The next day I was a speaker at the Business Intro conference, where I talked about how I managed to start up with my small fashion business and how by working 24/7 one/anybody can grow little by little but steadily and surely. Corina was a sweetheart and I want to thank her for thinking of me and for inviting me. If at least one person from all the people who attended is motivated to just to whatever it is they want to do, then the trip to Bucharest was worth it.

Freezing At Photo Shoot

Me, Florina, Andi, Soso, Bebe and the two models, Flavia and Miru went on location, somewhere outside TImisoara, for a photo shoot yesterday. It was extremely cold and a lot of mud around, but we managed to get some good photographs with the girls wearing the coats that I made last week and headpieces from the latest Josephine collection. Waiting to get the whole set so I can post it, ofc. Make-Up & Hair: Sergiu Bechian

To keep warm we were jumping up and down making subtle jokes about everything around us. Of course my foot hurt afterwards, but a photo shoot in the cold was an interesting experience, one that I am sure a lot of people working in the fashion business ‘digest’ constantly.

My Fave Josephine Flowers

Florina’s new collection is ready and perfectly photographed by Andi and here are my favorite pieces. Because of my injury I had to stay at home a lot last month, so it was a pleasant surprise when I saw that she took her famous brooches, headpieces and necklaces to another level.  And you may have noticed the spray painted details, which is probably my influence. :)

Am So Proud!

My Doll For Unicef

So I finished the doll for Unicef yesterday and first I wanted her to be a Gothic princess but she turned out to look more of a cute queen, right? She wears a black lace dress with the top part made of faux leather with metallic details. The eyes and the lips are also hand sewn.

I will donate it and send it to Unicef for the “Create A Doll- Help A Child‘ charity event, which will take place next year. You can have fun and create a doll yourself, get all the instructions here. I promise you that it is a whole lot of fun!

By the way: her name is Francesca.
