You know a little about my designer friend Silvia Labos by now (mostly from this post). I visited her today and after we talked about our collaboration, I looked through/photographed her fashion illustrations, because I thought they would make for interesting posts. [Yes, there are more to come!] The ones you see here are done on the Spanish theme: ruffles, ruffles and lots of ruffles again! I don’t know if you know, but I love ruffles, so it was obvious that I liked these clothes. Then I checked for new collections and just saw the John Galliano ss08 one, posted on the internet. Of course I loved his signature theatrical show, inspired by the documentary “Grey Gardens”, his Spanish roots also being explored big time; in my opinion he made up for the rather commercial and boring Dior ss08 show.
Click to see a sea of red, hot ruffles, impossible-to-wear make-up, all in all nothing less than what learned to expect from Galliano, also more of Silvia’s fashion illustrations on the Spanish theme, after the jump!
I seriously want to bath in a sea of soft, red, pink and orange ruffles.
Silvia actually thought of using ruffles for her final collection as a fashion student, but that would make it the more pricier, as ruffles use much more fabric than body-tight garments. Hopefully she’ll find some good sponsors! [picture credit tfs]

I heart ruffles!
I think I would’ve liked the Galliano show if Sonia Rykiel hadn’t done the exact same thing (only better) last season. Honestly, I was startled at how many pieces Galliano had almost straigthly copied!
OMG, Silvia’s drawings are absolutely stunning! Really, I covet all of them…and all that attention to details! Looks like a real talent! Wonderful…
