Diana Bobar

Welcome to my website ... and enjoy my journey inside the twisted world of Romanian fashion: from fabric choosing to pattern cutting, to the actual sewing - right now, I try to do my best in bulding my own clothing label: DIANA BOBAR DESIGN and having fun blogging the process.

Spreading More Love

I’ve been going through a tough period lately. My ‘work a lot-sleep a little-eat unhealthy’ lifestyle eventually got to me. I am so tired lately, I literally had health problems, chest-aches, stomach and back-aches, I have them all. I know I should relax more and try not to stress about little problems that come along, but I passionately do everything I do, so I just can’t keep that ‘work-live’ distance. I mean, I work at home, so I don’t have a schedule, meaning I usually work until 2, 3 am. I started taking vitamins, magnesium and calcium in the hopes of feeling better. And energy is all I need, because I can’t wait to finish the next collection: spring/summer 2009.

Anyways, enough about myself. Just wanted to share pictures that some of my clients sent over. I am so happy when I get these, it makes all the [physical] pain go away, even if only for moments. They really give me the energy I need to go on and work as much as I need to, as much as I want to! Thanks girls!

Leontina wearing a one-shoulder zebra dress that was suposed to be in the fall 2008 collection, but we totally forgot to photograph it when we shot the look book.

Florina wearing the ‘plum’ dress from the fall 2008 collection at her college prom. She is an emerging jewelery designer, has her own brand called ‘Josephine’ making adorable pins and earrings using Swarovsky crystals. Hew work will be available for purchase through my future online shop [which is in the works right now].

Anda wearing a dress I made from her mom’s old fabric, at her college prom.

Ioana wearing a green back-less dress. Too bad her pics aren’t better. Still, love the fit of the dress on her hips and the sexy back. If you got it, flaunt it! Right?

Sarah is a fashion blogger from Dublin, so she sent over a bunch of great pictures of her wearing the two dresses she ordered. The pink dress is actually one, which can be worn both ways, for different effects. I am glad she payed with it and figured it out by herself: “The first dress is a lovely fuchsia color and can be worn with either side as the back or front. The first way I tried it was with the gathered area at the front. The dress has elastic around the bottom so I pulled it up and folded it over to make a bubble dress. I loved this effect and will defiantly be wearing it out some time soon. Next I turned it around and ended up with an all together more sophisticated dress. To give it a harder edge I added a studded belt that I have.

The hardest part of fashion is the business itself, the money and the administrative sides of selling your work. Unfortunately I don’t have a big money fund to play around with, so everything I further invest is the profit from what I sold. It is hard right now because I really work alone and do things that a whole team is supposed to be doing. I’ll keep my hopes up and hopefully I’ll evolve enough to have a big atelier+showroom with hired seamstresses, a PR team, stores across Romania and… now I’ll stop dreaming and get back to work!

  2. Ohhh, dear! you are great! you know I am an old and loyal admirer, so, I understand that you are tired, but, knowing how driven you are when it comes about fulfilling your passion, I know it is useless to say “take a break”. So, instead of that, I will tell you - never stop aspiring! Everything that should come will come, some way or another.
Cant wait for my first paycheck here, in the Adriatic Area (yeah, I’ve relocated somehow :D) to start discussing a new, this time international order! The hot weather here requires some DBD dresses :D

  3. You have to take care of yourself first. If you don’t then you can’t make anymore of those beautiful designs. Take it easy…. And by the way your design are great….

PS: Plicul meu cel portocaliu a facut furori!
