Diana Bobar

Welcome to my website ... and enjoy my journey inside the twisted world of Romanian fashion: from fabric choosing to pattern cutting, to the actual sewing - right now, I try to do my best in bulding my own clothing label: DIANA BOBAR DESIGN and having fun blogging the process.

Swimsuits. Plans.

Snaps from the “She Loves The Wet And Wild” editorial, published in the January 2008 issue of Vogue Nippon.

The cold weather that’s outside right now makes me want to lock myself inside, watch movies and do nothing. I don’t even want to go jogging, as I fear of freezing before motivating myself to actually start running. Browsing the internet and seeing editorials from Vogue Brazil does not help at all: swimsuits, sun, crystal clear ocean water, tanned skin, in one word: warmth. The photographs make me feel even colder. So, I’m sick of winter and waiting for summer. How about you?

Talking about swimsuits, I just wanted to let you know that right now I am designing a range of crocheted swimsuits. Christmas is over, that means I’m back to work! I plan on collaborating with my grandmother, Lia, to create a range of Diana Bobar Design swimsuits. I started sketching, I’ll choose the colors and thread+fabric soon and then she will actually crochet the swimsuits. I’ll sew the lining and photograph them, post them on the blog, and you’ll be able to get your own hand-crocheted swimsuit for next summer, if you like them. Pretty cute, right?

Hopefully this project will be successful, I can’t wait to make my grandmother proud (it’s her that I’ve got all my talent from: she loved painting but her mother didn’t allow her to study painting; she really fought for me, so she feels accomplished through my successes and that just motivates me so much more to go on and continue creating no matter what).

  1. love what you say about your grandma!…
i think you are a very talented artist, so original and creative.

I can see that you have a lot of support of your family, and a good artistic education.

In mexico that´s a whole differet story. Here is very difficult to “be” and artist. Seems like even when people “like” arts, you can´t study an artistic major because people don´t trust that you can be one of them. We don´t have a lot of art-schools in here, and the few are very expensive. So, as you can imagine, i didn´t have a lot of oportunities and the far i can go was study graphic designer.

People like you inspire me to learn more and improve myself.

After all, i have an internet conection and wikipedia… so i guess the sky´s the limit…

a big hug and i wish you a happy new year!
